“I
am leaving on a jet plane...” – the title line of the famous country song
by John Denver always gets stuck in my mind, for all those hours until I catch
some sleep and dream about the dream destination of my life - Malaysia, the moment I hear or see
anything that makes me reminded of the land of awesomeness.
As far as I could go back to my
childhood and remember, Malaysia was the only foreign country I knew of with
those truly colorful advertisements proudly displaying the spirit of being “Truly
Asia”.
And today, when I have to sit down and
summarize all my thoughts to pen them down, I feel both lucky and confused to
do so. Lucky, for I get to blog about how I dream and feel about the elegant,
rich and fun-filled land of Malaysia, and confused as to how could I summarize
all the thoughts and love for the country which, since the age I have started
dreaming and understanding has always fascinated me towards itself for the
sheer amount of fun, awesomeness and bliss it has to offer to the world! But
hey, let’s start walking down the lane of what all the bubbling and bustling
streets and downtown(s) of Malaysia has in store to offer us, and I am sure by
the time we reach the end, we’ll left with nothing but wanting for more, more
and more...
For me, to know Malaysia is to love Malaysia and to love Malaysia is to know Malaysia, so let me take you to a stroll down the lane and tell you the ultimate 5 to-dos in Malaysia! :)
For me, to know Malaysia is to love Malaysia and to love Malaysia is to know Malaysia, so let me take you to a stroll down the lane and tell you the ultimate 5 to-dos in Malaysia! :)
The Ultimate 5 to-dos in Malaysia
1. Taman Narang, Pehang
Skip visiting
this National Park which actually is one of the oldest rain-forest in the world,
only if you have not grown up watching innumerous movies in your summer vacations
which had the most authentic live right-out-of-a-painting-like scenes shot here
while you always wondered if such an amazingly beautiful and serene place
really exists! Jungle trekking, river cruise and overnight stay within the
place which gives you the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to watch the animals as
close as one could and that too in their natural habitat, is all what this
adventure land offers you and be assured that the journey has just started
unfolding its surprises for you.
2. Sunway Lagoon Theme Park, Selangor
You sure don’t
want to visit some “parks” on an international holiday, unless you’re having the
best of your life’s time and holidaying nowhere else than Malaysia. Be spoilt
for choice from a range of parks, like – Water Park, Amusement Park, Wildlife
Park, Extreme Park and Scream Park, or just choose to pamper yourself
park-hopping the whole day and you’ll not have had enough even till the end of
the day, leave alone even having the thought of being tired. Be engaged and
lost in enjoying the world’s largest man-made sandy surf beach, world’s largest
pedestrian suspension bridge and Asia’s highest slingshot ride! Grab a board
and hit the surf or just go wall climbing, claim victory in the paint ball game
or go-karting. Do whatever, but make sure that you don’t drop your jaw on
seeing so many choices to pamper you. Period.
3. Batu Ferringhi Beach, Penang
What’s a
holiday without some laziness! Isn’t it? Soak up in the sun and just roam
around in your best beachwear and the moment the adventurer within you gives a
call, jump to the aquatic thrills of wind surfing and canoeing. And as the Sun
sets get ready t groove yourself to the carnival-like atmosphere and an open
market where you can buy souvenirs for your friends back home who are still
planning on how to let their hair loose while you’re already having a gala time
in Truly Asia ishtyle!
4. Batu Caves
And now that
you’ve already have Malaysia in your heart and have fallen in love with it yet
again, be there at Batu Caves – the most iconic and popular tourist attraction
in Malaysia. Apart from its prime importance of religious nature, the place
houses a major attraction which is a larger-than-life statute of Lord Shiva and
a steep slim-up of 272 stairs which on accomplishment gives a breathtaking view
of the stunning skyline of the city center. You’re sure that you don’t wanna
miss it, just don't. Period.
5. BBKLCC
Woohoo! And
here comes my favorite part of any trip – Shopping :D! The world’s fourth best shopping city is where you are and you’ll be highly disappointed, only if you don’t
realize that it’s a shopper’s paradise. Consider yourself blessed to be in the
land which boasts of having 3 of the world’s largest shopping malls and be
spoilt for choice on the abundance of options to choose from on fashion, food
and entertainment. You surely just don’t want to check-out from this place. Bet
anyone..?
And apart from
building up your itinerary in an awesome manner as above, consider visiting the
Twin Towers, KL Tower, Little India Brickfields and the Central Market, a
mandate without which your visit shall always be incomplete and in case while
returning, the immigration officer discovers you miss visiting these, he may
send you back to the mainland to complete your holiday. Take my word!
Bon Voyage :D
